Let us introduce you to A Holdens unique self-supporting range of carports. Perhaps you know about these through the famous advertisement when a car was put on top of one of a carport installation? This was done to show at a glance how incredibly strong this product is. The car weighed seventeen-hundredweight! But of course there’s more than just inherent strength to our canopies.
The smooth, elegant design will transform the appearance of your home instantly without mess or fuss. System 2000 is a British made product, which was designed and patented in 1985. Since that time other companies have tried to copy this idea-but with very little success. This product is supplied to A Holden Joinery by the original manufacturers.
These canopies are manufactured from tough and long lasting glass reinforced polyester resin (GRP). The translucent roof panels shield the worst of the weather but still allow plenty of day light through to any window underneath. In fact there’s an additional benefit because an added orthophthalic gelcoat is applied to the weather surface during manufacture, this protects the sheet from severe weather erosion and filters out the ultraviolet rays which cause paintwork and fabrics to fade or discolour. Our canopies are based on proven scientific principles. The cantilever design means that no support posts or pillars whatsoever are needed-so there are no special foundations to be dug out or messy concrete to be poured. This means that installation is a very speedy process. The freestanding concept also means that you not only gain more space but also you can have a purpose built canopy where access is restricted, or where there is simply no room for the old fashioned type, which needs support pillars and foundations.
In many cases using a carport can be more beneficial to your car that a garage because the passage of air currents dries off rain and damp instead of allowing it to cling overnight-and your car is still shielded from the worst of the weather.
Other uses might be for the protection of a caravan or boat through the winter. An intensive program of research showed that System 2000 canopies have a rugged reliability that will withstand all conditions. The manufacturer has tested the materials and the unique cantilever action against gale force winds and snow loads that are far excess of any that are ever likely to occur-even above the weight of the car used in the demonstration!
